Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Project ("MRT Project")
MRT Kajang Line
DanaInfra’s primary role upon its incorporation is to secure and manage the funding for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit –Kajang Line (previously known as Sg Buloh-Kajang Line or MRT Line 1). DanaInfra’s overriding objective would be to minimise the impact of funding large infrastructure development on the Government’s overall fiscal position.
MRT Kajang Line has completed and fully commenced its operation on 17 July 2017.
MRT Putrajaya Line
In December 2014, DanaInfra was further mandated to undertake funding of MRT Putrajaya Line (previously known as Sg Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line or MRT Line).
Phase 1 and Phase 2 of MRT Putrajaya Line has commenced operation on 16 June 2022 and 16 March 2023 respectively.
Land Acquisition Cost of MRT Circle Line (MRT3)
In April 2024, DanaInfra was mandated to provide funding for the land acquisition cost of MRT Circle Line (MRT3) amounting to RM6.5 billion.
MRT Project Financing Programme
In carrying out its mandate, DanaInfra initially established the MRT Project Financing Programme through the Government Guaranteed Islamic Commercial Papers / Islamic Medium Term Notes Programme (“ICP/IMTN Programme”) and Syndicated Islamic Financing Facility (“SFF-i Facility”) with a combined limit of up to RM8.0 billion in 2012. The ICP/IMTN Programme and SFF-i Facility (“Financing Programme”) was then upsized to RM21.0 billion in 2014 and further upsized to RM46.0 billion in 2015 to cater for consolidation of the funding requirements of MRT Kajang Line and MRT Putrajaya Line. The funding consolidation is also known as Cohesive Funding Programme. Subsequently, the Financing Programme was upsized in 2018 (RM61.0 billion) and 2020 (RM71.0 billion). In August 2023, the ICP/IMTN Programme and SFF-i Facility was further upsized to RM82.2 billion. In April 2024, DanaInfra was mandated to fund the land acquisition cost of MRT Circle Line (MRT3). To date, DanaInfra has issued a total of RM80.0 billion IMTN whilst RM12.79 billion IMTN has been redeemed.
