Danainfra: Actual cost of Sg Buloh-Kajang MRT line known by Q1 2013

KUALA LUMPUR: Danainfra Nasional Bhd expects the actual cost of the Sungai Buloh - Kajang Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line to be determined once all the tender packages have been awarded, which is expected by year-end.
However, the total financing required for the MRT line was estimated to be finalised by the end of the first quarter of next year.
To-date, 33 work packages valued at RM15.5bil have been awarded, said Danainfra principal officer Fazlur Rahman Ebrahim on Tuesday during the signing of the Islamic commercial papers/ Islamic medium term notes programme agreement.
There are 52 remaining packages expected to be awarded by year-end.
Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah a massive project like the construction of MRT can only be successfully undertaken and completed if all the necessary element exist.
“It is expected that around RM30bil worth of funds will have to be sourced to finance the completion of the SBK line, which is the first line to be constructed under the MRT project,” he said.
